Rackets and Balls - Tennis News

With the recent advent of gambling scandal surrounding tennis, Tennis Australia boss Steve Wood has announced a hotline will be in place for players competing at the Australian Open to use.

Well, thank goodness for that. How did we ever get along in tennis before the hotline?

There is a 48-hour deadline for players to log their complaints.

“We don’t want to be in the situation where we have players saying, ‘Oh yeah, someone said something to me in the corridor two years ago, maybe I should have mentioned that,’” said Wood.

Well - you’re already in that situation, but thanks for playing Mr. Wood.

You know, I am harping on it a bit - mostly because I don’t know that it will accomplish what they’re hoping - but you have to start somewhere.

And if a hotline and a global operation called the Tennis Integrity Unit is where the tennis powers-that-be choose to start their fight against crime, who am I to denounce that effort?
