Henin Loses in Dubai

There’s nothing quite so refreshing as writing a blurb about tennis with your neighbor’s bass shaking your house…someday I’m going to stick it to those f-ers and I’m not going to feel one bit of remorse.
On a different note but equally sad and depressing is the loss of Justine Henin in the quarterfinals at Dubai. […]

Clijsters has baby girl

Kim Clijsters has popped out a baby girl and named her…Jada. It is too eerily close to Jaba the Hut for my liking. Let’s hope Kim’s Jada is a sight more appealing than Jaba the Hut is.
Jada was born in Belgium, was 51 centimeters long and weighed 3,035 grams (I didn’t want to do the […]

Grunting Girl Gets Banned

Maybe they’re going to start at the bottom and work their way up. Or maybe they’re just out to ruin a young tennis player’s life. Either way, it sucks for nine-year-old Lauryn Edwards who was banned by the Mount Caramel Tennis Club for grunting too loudly when she played. The ban came on the heels […]

Roddick Wins SAP Open

And this is how Andy Roddick keeps his world ranking intact. He may not have won a Grand Slam in years but the guy keeps on winning the little ATP tournaments in between the big ones.
Roddick rolled Radek Stepanek 6-4, 7-5 in the SAP Open final. The victory handed Roddick his 24th career title.
Yay, Roddick. […]

Mauresmo Down and Out

It’s hard to keep on keeping on when there aren’t any results to show for it. That’s how former world number one Amelie Mauresmo feels these days.
Mauresmo exited the Qatar Open this week in the second round with a 7-6, 7-5 loss to Tamarine Tanasugarn. Tama-T who? Exactly. Suffice it to say it isn’t taking […]

Ginepri Beats Blake at SAP Open

The world of sports naturally revolves around the rise and fall of athletes. Some shoot up for a brilliant few moments in the rays of glory and victory. Others stay there for a long time.
Remember Robby Ginepri? Don’t worry if you don’t. Ginepri hasn’t been in the top ranks of the world’s tennis players since […]

Roddick Ousts Nishikori

The rising star of Japan’s tennis hopes couldn’t make it past Andy Roddick yesterday in the SAP Open. Kei Nishikori lost in two sets 6-2, 6-4 to the world number six.
Roddick was aggressive in the victory, aggressive to the point where he was shouting things at his opponent. Things like, “Stick me with it the […]

Rafa Out at ABN Amro

When I first saw the name of this tournament, I thought it said “ABN Amor.” For those who don’t know - “amor” means love in Spanish. Then I looked closer and realized I was just stupid.
Rafael Nadal, the last remaining seeded player in the draw got the pink slip by Andreas Seppi in a 6-3, […]

Andy Murray has no charm?

Sometimes I harp on Andy Murray. It’s not a secret. But I certainly don’t do it to the extent of Simon Hattenstone. Here’s his article about how charmless Murray is compared to his brother Jamie. Compared to a normal human being, actually.
Hattenstone talks about Murray as if he’s a side of beef for sale. That’s […]

Tennis Sweeps Tops Athlete Awards

The sport of tennis stood up and forced the world to recognize it at the Laureus world sports awards event in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Roger Federer won his fourth straight world sportsman of the year trophy, and Justine Henin was named world sportswoman of the year for the first time.
Henin equalled a 10-year-old record when she […]
