Davis Cup Back in the U.S.
By now this is old news but you’ll have to forgive me. After spending two days on the edge of civilization (and I do mean that without an ounce of exaggeration), I am back in the saddle and tapping away on the keyboard about our sport.
So the U.S. won the Davis Cup. After 12 years of lost hopes, despair, “oh-we-suck-at-tennis-how-did it happen” woes and lots of hard work and anticipation, the Americans have grabbed ahold of the Davis Cup with wins from Andy Roddick, James Blake and the Bryan brothers.
That’s exciting, I suppose. The Davis Cup is important. The Americans won it; the Russians did not. Let us move on *spreading of the hands in a wide, sweeping gesture.*
Maybe that’s how the Americans lost their hold on the Cup in the first place; too much reliving of the glory days and not enough focusing on the tasks lying ahead. But what do I know. I’m just freshly returned from a real-life Oregon Trail experience, I might be a little travel weary.
