Heat Exhaustion Pushes Jelena Jankovic Out
Sometimes heat is just…it just sucks, you know? You could just be walking along and realize, wow, it’s hot outside. More often than not, when I was growing up, I had to work outside. In the middle of the summer at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, you really began to wish you were somewhere else.
Jelena Jankovic probably thought the same thing at the Bangkok Open today when she had to withdraw from the tournament due to heat exhaustion.
As Jankovic said, “I arrived yesterday and didn’t sleep last night. I played indoors last week and it was cold in Germany, so it was a drastic change. My body couldn’t take it.”
Isn’t it funny how much you can want to do something but if your body can’t handle it and says ‘no’ there just isn’t too much you can do about it? Personally, I enjoy watching Jankovic play.
Too bad a little heat got in the way.
