Keeping it healthy
When it comes to tennis, we all want to hit the courts, swing some rackets and smash an ace down the center line. Being on the court and actually playing tennis is what makes tennis - well - tennis. But the time you put in outside of the court could make the time you spend on it much more enjoyable.
That sounds preachy. But it’s true. On the USTA site, the Ask the Lab segment focused on leg exercises and preventing injury. I won’t bother to regurgitate the tips given in the article. If you’re checking out my blog, there is a good chance you can read the oh-so-conveniently linked article.
You don’t have to be a professional tennis player to take a bit more interest in tennis than just what happens on the court. Just like you probably don’t practice your serve for three hours straight, you don’t have to spend hours on end in the gym doing lunges and bicep curls. Hitting the weights a bit, though, will give you greater stamina, more energy and less injuries in our favorite pasttime.
