Seles Back on Tour?

by Erica on December 13th, 2007

She is contemplating it. Monica Seles hasn’t played since the 2003 French Open and won her last Grand Slam in Australia in 1996.

Nothing like getting stabbed in the back - literally - to help shove your career in a new direction.

“I certainly would not ever be able to do a full schedule again, because of the foot, but I’m thinking about the Slams and about some of the better tournaments that lead into them. I won’t decide for sure until the beginning of the year and the Australian is certainly not possible. But Miami. Maybe,” said the 34-year-old Seles.

It seems to be the new thing in tennis. Retire, come back, retire, come back. Although Seles hasn’t ever really officially retired. She cites Lindsay Davenport’s comeback tour as a source of inspiration.

Will the former world No. 1 make an impact once she gets back on the court? Who knows….but let’s just keep in mind Seles was No. 1 in 1991-92 - that was 15 years ago, a decade and a half.

Also known as a really long time.
