Rafa had a valid point when he said the clay court season was jammed into a tight time frame. I feel like I’ve just wrapped up one tournament, take a breath and then turn around and realize we’re already halfway through the next tournament. And I’m just writing about it!
So Roger Federer passed another clay […]

Beating Roger Federer doesn’t do much good if you can’t follow it up with another victory. Andy Roddick squandered his breakthrough victory over Federer by losing to Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets at the Sony Ericsson Open. I guess that’s what happens when you’re still reeling from an emotional victory 24 hours earlier.
Davydenko had fallen […]

I think it’s officially arrived: Roger Federer no longer dominates the game of tennis. He’s been off-and-on and shaky all year but today’s loss made it true for me today.
Andy Roddick finally avenged his dismal record against the world number one and pulled off a three-set (7-6, 4-6, 6-3) victory in his 12th try at […]

Time to take a break from stewing over tennis results and on to the important things: a professional tennis player’s love life!
Yes, it’s true. Andy Roddick is engaged to model girlfriend Brooklyn Decker. For all those young teenagers across America - and older, I suppose - Roddick is off the market.
A date has not been […]

He’s the comic relief of the professional tennis world. While some point fingers and say he’s too much like a frat boy, Andy Roddick is at the very least someone with a personality and I’ll take that any day over some stodgy player.
Roddick’s latest escapades came in a press conference when a woman - someone […]

The nice thing about backing a losing horse is that when he wins, it shoots the excitement factor through the roof. And in some cases, if you back the losing horse long enough, eventually he’s going to win.
Andy Roddick won the Dubai Open yesterday with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory over unseeded Feliciano Lopez in […]

Several others did what Roger Federer could not: they advanced at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero handily in two sets (6-2, 6-4). Rafael Nadal had to come from a set down to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber and Novak Djokovic easily worked over Marin Cilic in straight sets.
Djokovic voiced what so many others […]

And this is how Andy Roddick keeps his world ranking intact. He may not have won a Grand Slam in years but the guy keeps on winning the little ATP tournaments in between the big ones.
Roddick rolled Radek Stepanek 6-4, 7-5 in the SAP Open final. The victory handed Roddick his 24th career title.
Yay, Roddick. […]

The rising star of Japan’s tennis hopes couldn’t make it past Andy Roddick yesterday in the SAP Open. Kei Nishikori lost in two sets 6-2, 6-4 to the world number six.
Roddick was aggressive in the victory, aggressive to the point where he was shouting things at his opponent. Things like, “Stick me with it the […]

Sports. We love them, right? I know I wrote earlier about how I fell in love with the game of tennis and this time, I want to speak a little more broadly about my relationship with sports. It’s a love/hate relationship. It’s up, and it’s down. When you’re winning (or your team or person is winning), you’re […]
