A Little Roddick Love

I’ve been known to harp on America’s top-ranked player Andy Roddick. I can’t seem to help it but I tell myself I do it out of love because I have long been a fan of Roddick’s. He’s like the little mischevious boy down the street. He does things wrong but you can’t help but smile […]

A Little Caption Fun

There have been plenty of pictures in the past few weeks but this one of Andy Roddick struck me as special. And perfect for a little bit ‘o caption fun.
So have fun, be creative and let the captions flow…do you have what it takes to be The Caption Master?

The Line is Drawn, the Russians Have Revealed

Surprise! It’s like a magic show. What did the Russian tennis team pull out of the black top hat tonight? Oh…nothing much. Just a - “Hey Nikolay Davydenko. You’re ranked No. 4 in the world; let’s leave you out of the singles competition and delegate you to doubles.”
Interesante, no?
I’m sure Andy Roddick and Co. thought […]

And now we know…

That Roger Federer added another win to his name and Andy Roddick still finds himself a one-hit wonder against the Dude. (Brownie points to anyone who can tell me the movie!)
It wasn’t even close at the Masters Cup in Shanghai. 6-4: Game Federer. 6-2: Game Federer. Raise your hands and smile and tap your racket. […]

Andy Roddick 2-0 in Shanghai

Well, after Roger Federer got beat by Fernando Gonzalez, Andy Roddick beat Gonzalez. Sports logic says Roddick will beat Federer, but rarely does sports logic apply to tennis. Mainly because it contradicts so much.
Even though Roddick beat Gonzalez who beat Federer, Federer has a 14-1 record against Roddick.
But Federer’s loss to Gonzalez was the first […]

Andy Roddick Secures Masters Cup Slot

It’s the fifth invitation Andy Roddick has received to the Masters Cup; he’s not turning it down.
Roddick’s position in Shanghai was sealed when his competitors failed to advance in Madrid. Roddick is the fifth player with a guaranteed spot at the event, three remain.
So - woo! Roddick keeps hanging around. He’s not on the same […]

Player-Coach Relations Part Deux

Sometimes I have observations and sometimes I like to talk about them.
Player-coach relationships can be a big deal.  Look at Andy Roddick. Being coached by Jimmy Connors was a pretty big factor in his career. And how many times have we seen Maria Sharapova’s coach mimic a monkey and wave bananas around?
The relationships and the […]

Hewitt Advances

You know, if I had a kid, I would consider naming him Lleyton. Something about the double ‘L’ just gets to me…like llama. Remember when Hewitt and Andy Roddick used to be the big rivalry? He was good, Hewitt was. He’s faded off the scene a bit but he’s still smacking the ball around.
Advancing in […]

Davis Cup

When most people think of professional tennis, they think of the Grand Slam events - the Aussie Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. They aren’t high-profile for nothing.
Something that gets a little less notice is the Davis Cup (although all the big names play in it - I think it’s just the format […]
