Tennis not represented in AP Athlete of the Year
Just because tennis is my main squeeze doesn’t mean it’s everyone elses. Or AP’s for that matter.
Although Roger Federer and Justine Henin wrapped up the tennis season at No. 1, they both fell short in the AP Athlete of the Year race. Not a little short either. It wasn’t a photo finish one-point differential; especially not in the women’s race. Er - blowout.
New England quarterback Tom Brady was named male athlete of the year eight-time golf tournament winner Lorena Ochoa was named female athlete of the year.
Tom Brady? Psh, what has he done? And here I thought the world revolved around R.Fed.
Brady rolled in 51 votes, 18 more than Federer. That differential is…slightly less embarrassing than Ochoa’s 71 votes and Henin’s 17.
Wa-bam, thank ya ma’am, but do not collect your $200 as you pass Go.
