The First to Go: Moya Out of Wimbledon
How bad is this? I was reading the article about how Carlos Moya pulled out of Wimbledon with a shoulder injury. The lead-off on the article mentioned Moya as a former number one player.
And I couldn’t remember when Moya had been number one. In fact, it was so off my radar that I was questioning the accuracy of the statistic. So I went and looked it up. By golly gee-whilikers, it’s true all right.
Carlos Moya spent two weeks as the world’s top men’s tennis player in *drum roll* March of 1999. That’s almost a decade ago!
Obviously Moya isn’t planning his resurgence to the top of the sport at this year’s Wimbledon, huh?
